When systems are designed around an assumed ‘average’ user, how we can unite data, AI and design to build comprehensive services where no one falls through the cracks?

With technology changing at an accelerated pace, especially as we usher in the AI age, there is still a significant group of people who remain underserved. In fact research points to a substantial percentage across the UK who lack the access, skills or money to engage with digital and data services.

Transform has brought together thinking from across data, AI and service design to propose a different approach. One where instead of reusing service blueprints and design patterns anchored to the majority experience, we invert the 80:20 to create inclusive, accessible services that work from the edges in.

By designing once, designing well and designing for all, we avoid shifting cost, risk and harm downstream and instead deliver successful transformation from the edges in.
